Who had a poster of Jason Donovan on their walls?

The number one 80’s pin-up boy is back! Yes, due to massive demand, the Aussie icon has returned to his pop roots and is celebrating Crimbo with a tour playing all the hits form his 1989 5x platinum debut, ‘Ten Good Reasons’. This was the biggest selling album of its year and still remains a firm fan favourite. It included two solo No.1 singles ‘Too Many Broken Hearts’ and ‘Sealed with a Kiss’. And of course, who can forget that duet with Kylie Minogue, ‘Especially for You’. *Swoons*.

We pestered the megastar with plenty of nosy questions. Find out what he had to say…

What can we expect from your Ten Good Reasons tour?
I plan on staying true to the music and the sound, giving the audience what they want. Not becoming too self-indulgent and being as authentic as possible. There’s a nostalgic appetite for the music it’s very iconic record of its time, this is a moment for people. You never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

Your scariest fan moment?
All my fans are scary! I’m only joking. Am grateful for the fans and the power of neighbours and being the character in everyone’s living room, gave me the leverage to be able to go out there and record songs.

Top three tunes that make you tingle with nostalgia for the 80s?
‘Waiting for a star to fall’, Boy Meets Girl
‘Boys of Summer’, Don Henley
‘Cherish’, Madonna

Your favourite current music stars
Coldplay, Bruno Mars are interesting artists. I like clever music.

Still in touch with Kylie?
Not really. We’re different people, different paths and all that. Although we’re well and truly on speaking terms, but we don’t really keep in regular touch.

If you HAD to choose, which of your roles do you get the most satisfaction from?

I’d actually like to do more TV work. But unfortunately it’s not as forthcoming as I’d like it to be. I’m very lucky with my theatre work. Although I tour a lot and don’t like being away from home. My family are my real satisfaction, they are my strength, my passion and my love.

What you up to for Christmas?
Spending it with the family and taking some time out. Really looking forward to that time out!

Who’s the most famous person in your phone?
I don’t deal in fame – I just deal in fame and family

What can we expect from you for the future?
The tour is the most important thing at the moment, looking forward to that. I haven’t really thought too far ahead of that. I have the Million Dollar Quartet next year – and then we’ll see what happens after that!

Don’t miss out on tickets to see Jason Donovan on his Ten Good Reason and Greatest Hits Tour.

About Deborah James

Loves live music. Terrified of mosh pits due to an incident circa 2006 involving a thrown bucket of random warm urine. Watches keenly from safer distances.
