The Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour is well underway and while this year’s host, Mel Giedroyc, may be more familiar with the the Great British Bake Off’s kitchen than she is the Strictly dance floor, she has already received rave reviews, with The Telegraph even hailing her “the perfect host”!
Speaking ahead of the tour, which includes dates at the first direct arena in Leeds, Manchester Arena and the Metro Radio Areana in Newcastle, Mel revealed just how excited she was to be embarking upon the tour, and the circus-esque ‘look’ she’s going for.
Mel said: “As soon as they asked me, I said yes immediately. I love Strictly. I once met head judge Len Goodman and I couldn’t look him in the eye I was so awestruck.”
Mel also reflected on her TV counterparts, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkeman, and warned us not to expect the same fashion choices.
“They’re legends, lynchpins but they can carry a dress better than me. I’m opting for what I call a ringmaster look,” she said. We can’t wait to see it, Mel!
Joining Mel on the tour is 2015’s Glitterball trophy winner, Jay McGuiness, who has already promised us that he will be performing his sensational Pulp Fiction jive with partner Aliona Vilani and can’t wait to get back out in front of a live audience, even if he does find it a bit nerve-wracking!
Jay said: “I’m looking forward to dancing in front of a large audience which I’m used to, of course, from being a member of The Wanted. Funnily enough, dancing on TV with a studio audience of just 400 is far more intimidating.”
