We can’t wait to escape to the country for BBC Countryfile Live! With it only being a few days away we’re already started planning how to spend our days, so we don’t miss out on any of the exciting talks, shows and activities. Here’s our list of things we think you shouldn’t miss:
Exclusive talks at the National Trust Theatre.
There will be topical talks on price vs quality of food, post-Brexit farming. There’s an amazing line up of speakers, including; Michaela Strachan, Ray Mears, Simon King, Mike Dilger and Naomi Wilkinson. (Remember to book your seats!)
Listening to new music on the BBC introducing stage.
This will be hard to beat – in the Craven Arms Pub there will be sharp country and folk musicians. All unsigned, undiscovered and under the radar. We can’t wait to hear them before they make it big!
Dive into the activities on offer!
Make a splash on the waterside, go fishing, pond dipping, canoeing, kayaking and try your hand at coracle-making. We can’t wait to jump in.
If you want to knock it up a gear then jump aboard the Mitsubishi off-road driving experience. You’ll have a fuelled up experience riding in a 4×4, tackling the tough terrain and mud, with a mix of twists, turns and traverses.
If chasing highs is more your style then you can try out the climbing wall, or take flight on the zip wire. Alternatively, see who comes out on top on the assault course, it’s survival of the fittest against your friends and family.
Ready steady National Trust Cooking Theatre.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to pick up cooking tips from top chefs. Whether you kneade to brush up on your bread-making, want to master cooking with meat (without butchering it), swot up on what food is in season and how to make the most of it, make afternoon tea delights a piece of cake, find out how you can make some simple yet udderly delicious recipes with dairy, or just want to get cooking with your kids. You’ll leave the National Trust Cooking Theatre as a star baker.
Meet the amazing animals!
One of the mane things we can’t wait for is the Equine Village, where you can see the British Scurry Trials European Championship, The Mounted Games and the Shetland Pony racing!
Follow the lead and waddle down to the Dog and Duck show – where sheep dogs will round up their livestock. Anita’s BBC Countryfile challenge will see her having a go at herding Indian Runner Ducks with dogs!
Flock to see the most awe-inspiring birds of prey in action. Eagles, hawk, falcons and owls will take flights above your heads.
