Arctic Monkeys, David Bowie and Laura Marling are among the nominees for this year’s BRIT Awards.
The shortlisted acts for this year’s event, which will take place on 19 February at London’s O2 Arena, have been announced.
Arctic Monkeys go up against the likes of Bastille and Disclosure in the Best British Group category. David Bowie is already odds on favourite to triumph against the likes of Jake Bugg and James Blake in the Best Male Solo Artist award, while gifted lyricist Laura Marling will take on Laura Mvula, Jessie J and more in the Best Female category – in what could be a battle of the two Laura’s.
A broad spectrum of Radio 1 airplay makes up the nominations for British Single, while the Best Album shortlist pits Arctic Monkeys’ ‘AM’ against Bowie’s ‘The Next Day’ and Disclosure’s ‘Settle’, among others.
