Injured Haye forced to withdraw from Saturday 29th June bout

DAVID HAYE vs. MANUEL CHARR

Promoter Statement (Issued Tuesday 14 May)

Injured Haye withdraws from Saturday 29 June bout

Hayemaker Boxing regret to inform that David Haye has withdrawn from his proposed Saturday 29 June Manchester Arena fight with Manuel Charr due to a hand injury picked up in training.

The injury to his left hand occurred on Sunday evening and left the former WBA world heavyweight champion with no option but to postpone his impending return to the ring.

“I’m absolutely gutted to have to pull out of this fight on June 29,” he said. “I pick up injuries now and again in training, and sometimes carry them into fights, but this was one I simply couldn’t recover from in time. I need to rest it up for at least four weeks.

“I apologise to Manuel Charr and to everybody involved with the promotion. But most of all I want to say sorry to the thousands of fans who bought tickets to the fight. I felt it was important to let them know about the cancellation as soon as possible, so they can now make other plans.

“As soon as I am told I can resume full training, my loyal fans will be the first to know.”

Tickets can be refunded from point of purchase.

More details TBC.

TEXAS ANNOUNCE NOVEMBER UK TOUR

BRAND NEW ALBUM “THE CONVERSATION” RELEASED MAY 20TH 2013

In their 25th anniversary year Texas release their brand new studio album ‘The Conversation’ through [PIAS] Recordings on May 20th 2013. Following the album release, Texas will return in November with a full UK tour including a headline London show at Hammersmith Apollo and a string of dates around the country.

Texas eighth album, ‘The Conversation’ is their first in eight years and is the latest in a career that has seen the band sell over 30 million albums worldwide with a succession of multi-platinum albums ‘White on Blonde’, ‘The Hush’ and ‘Greatest Hits’. This overdue return in 2013 clearly redefines and confidently re-introduces the band afresh with tracks written and produced by singer/guitarist Sharleen Spiteri and bassist Johnny McElhone and featuring collaborations with singer-songwriter Richard Hawley and Bernard Butler.

‘The Conversation’ is an album splitting its seams with the joy of a long-proven pop force creating a collection of songs rich enough in melody and emotion to deserve filing beside the best of the band’s previous million-selling hits. The album was recorded in Glasgow, London and at Richard Hawley’s studio in Sheffield where the seven tracks he worked on went on to form the backbone of ‘The Conversation’: a perfect marriage of Hawley’s 50s rock’n’roll frills and the timeless Texas magnetism to cast-iron melodies.

On Tour: Mikky Ekko

Mikky Ekko tickets

John Stephen Sudduth, aka Mikky Ekko, was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, son of a tar plant manager. Around age 7 his father became a preacher and relocated the family to Mississippi, moving frequently from small town to small town. Surrounded by southern gospel, poverty and the resilient past of the deep south, the roots of his own music began taking shape. Mikky then moved to Nashville, where he waded through various bands and odd jobs while surviving the dream. Despite the grind, Ekko continued to experiment with his writing and voice.

Out of this experimentation, the track “Who Are You, Really?” was born and posted online. It wasn’t long before the song found the ears of Michael Volpe (aka Clams Casino), the elusive New Jersey-based producer whose slow, spaced-out productions have led to collaborations with the likes of A$AP Rocky and Lil B. Clams invited Mikky to New York to write together and the two became fast friends. The first song written and produced by the pair resulted in Mikky’s debut single, “Pull Me Down.” With the backdrop of Clams’ ethereal production, Ekko’s vocals are beautifully showcased.

Having featured on Rihanna’s massive hit single ‘Stay’, Mikky Ekko comes to the UK this summer, playing the Yahoo! Wireless Festival as well as an XOYO show in July.

Tickets for this headline London show go on sale Friday 9am at Eventim.

my brother the devil + special guests tickets

Cine-G2 and Secret Community Space Present My Brother the Devil + Special Guests

The award-winning My Brother The Devil has just been released in the US, to rave reviews.

The film was made on the Gascoyne 2 estate in Hackney.

The warm welcome and support of the G2 residents touched the hearts of all the filmmakers. Without G2, there would have been no film.

Cine-G2 is the legacy of the My Brother The Devil film in the community. It will be a new, non-profit Community Cinema, in the estate’s Community Hall.

To launch Cine-G2, and to raise funds to establish the Community Cinema, we are partnering with Future Cinema, the pioneers of live cinema, on a special evening of film and entertainment in their unique community venue, the Old Cardinal Pole School. Cine-G2 are organising the event and are supported by Future Cinema’s Secret Community Space.

Hot young British artist Cashtastic will open the evening with a performance of his songs from the film.

Sally El Hosaini, the film’s director, and the leading cast: James Floyd, Fady Elsayed, Aymen Hamdouchi and Letitia Wright will all be in attendance, for the event welcome and then lively discussion after the screening.

“If you’ve seen ‘Kidulthood’ and ‘Ill Manors’, and the thought of another dose of gritty gangland realism is about as appealing as licking the tube floor, think again. In her impressive debut, Sally El Hosaini rifles through the coming-of-age film handbook, but she’s got a Mike Leigh-like skill for getting under the skin of a family. Brothers Rashid (James Floyd) and Mo (Fady Elsayed) have grown up on a Hackney council estate. Rashid sparkles with the invincible charisma of a stupidly good-looking, bright young man. In another life he’d have the world at his feet. Instead, he’s dealing drugs and trying to keep Mo off the streets. Mo idolises his big brother until he discovers a secret that, for him, is so terrible he’d prefer their mates to think that Rashid is a terrorist. This will be a calling-card for everyone involved. James Floyd in particular must now be on everydirector’s must-cast list. If Daniel Craig hangs up his tux and anyone’slooking for the first mixed-race Bond, here’s your man.” – Cath Clark, Time Out
