Event News: David Haye will Fight Manuel Charr at the Manchester Arena this June.

The Hayemaker is Back tickets

David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye will return to Manchester Arena this summer to face Manuel ‘Diamond Boy’ Charr.

Tickets for the Saturday 29 June bout are on sale now at Eventim, priced from £40.00.

Haye returns to Manchester Arena – the home of his WBA heavyweight title wins over John Ruiz and Audley Harrison – to go head-to-head with Lebanon-born former WBC world heavyweight title challenger Manuel Charr.

The summer showdown will mark the popular Londoner’s first outing of 2013 and kickstart a run he hopes will lead to the heavyweight championship of the world.

“I’m delighted to be back fighting at Manchester Arena, as I have great memories of fighting there in the past,” he said. “During my reign as WBA world heavyweight champion I was fortunate enough to defend my belt twice at the arena, and both times I won by knockout. It’s a big arena, but the fans feel right on top of you and the noise generated is, at times, deafening. The Manchester fans are famous for being knowledgeable and getting behind their boxers, and I can’t wait to deliver them another knockout on June 29.”

Haye, 32, is a former WBC, WBA and WBO world cruiserweight champion, as well as a former heavyweight titlist, and remains one of the few genuine crossover stars in the sport of boxing. Heavy-handed and aggressive, the Bermondsey boxer has knocked out 24 of 26 beaten opponents.

Charr, 28, has won all but one of his 24 professional bouts. The German-based boxer’s sole defeat came at the hands of world champion Vitali Klitschko, who controversially stopped him on a cut last September.

Manchester Arena has staged the biggest British fights in recent times featuring greats like Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Naseem Hamed and, more recently, classics bouts by Haye, Joe Calzaghe and local heroes Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan.
