After tickets for David Brent’s first ever live gigs sold out in under 15 seconds at the end of 2013, fans will be pleased to hear the Ricky Gervais character will be back on stage in May.
Brent will perform in character at the Eventim Apollo and Oxford New Theatre. Gervais told his fans the dates through Twitter, adding that tickets go on sale 9.00am Friday 07 March.
The general manager of Slough’s fictional paper company Wernham–Hogg, David Brent is a character invented by Ricky Gervais as the star of BBC Two comedy The Office. Always a part-time musician with big aspirations, Brent made his live debut last year with three shows at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre.
Like his Work in Progress shows, Brent and his band will showcase tracks such as Free Love Freeway, Spaceman Came Down, Slough, Life on The Road, Ain’t No Trouble and critically acclaimed Lady Gypsy among new, unheard material.
Brent made a comeback from his dismissal at Wernham-Hogg in 2013 when he appeared in a number of guitar tutorials hosted on YouTube.
