We announced on Tuesday that this year’s Lovebox headliners were London’s own Rudimental on the Friday night and Snoop Dogg (real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus believe it or not) on the Saturday.
Hot Chip, Cypress Hill, Jessie Ware, Mark Ronson and Annie Mac are just some of the other performers taking to Victoria Park on July 17th and 18th, and the full line up is so impressive, it got us thinking about previous headliners of the festival.
Well, Groove Armada are the founders of Lovebox so it makes sense that we mentioned them first! The electronic music duo have created some of the most loved dance hits such as I See You Baby which was released back in 1999 and 2001’s Superstylin’.
Years before Pharrell decided that oversized hats were a good look, Jamiroquai’s Jay Kay was rocking the trend and he certainly did not disappoint with his choice in headwear back in 2006 when the Virtual Insanity singer was a headliner at Lovebox.
Let’s not pretend that Love Shack isn’t one of the greatest songs EVER. The crowd at Lovebox in 2007 certainly loved it that’s for sure! We won’t lie, The B-52’s get a special mention from us because the American band renamed themselves the BC-52’s for the Flintstones Movie soundtrack and our inner child will be forever thankful for that…
Back in 2009 N.E.R.D including Pharrell Williams were one of the headliners at Lovebox and they brought the crowd down with an out-of-this-world performance of their hit songs including the contagious She Wants To Move.
London’s own Dizzee Rascal hit the Lovebox stage in 2010 and he brought the house down with a set filled with his best-loved tunes including, of course, Bonkers.
Scissor Sisters made an unforgettable appearance at Lovebox in 2011 with special guest star Beth Ditto joining them for the occasion.
