It’s safe to say that when we get the opportunity to leave behind the city and go explore the great British countryside we take our chances, thank you very much. So when we were invited to come along and check out the debut of BBC Countryfile Live at Blenheim Palace over the weekend we were very excited!
We are avid fans of the BBC Show (and so are 9 million other people in the country!) and have attended a number of county shows and world class equestrian events over the years. But it’s fair to say that BBC Countryfile Live more than lived up to our high expectations and then some.
In fact the show had so much to see and do that the two days we attended just wasn’t enough. Every interest is catered for; farming and agriculture, machinery, arts & crafts, cooking, gardening, theatre, equestrian games, shops and stalls as far as the eye can see, animals and breeds (with a handling barn), countryside sports and interests… you could even bag yourself a cracking new garden feature or summer house if you felt so inclined.
We had a two-year old in tow, and their natural curiosity for anything big, shiny and colourful or fluffy/alive/mooing was constantly piqued. Not only was it just the best environment for kids and families but we learned a thing or two ourselves (tractors have sat navs… who knew?!)
