If it wasn’t exciting enough that Mumford & Sons, Metallica and The Libertines were headlining this year’s Reading & Leeds Festivals, it has just been announced that over 60 more new acts will be joining the bill!
Indie rock heroes alt-J were last seen headlining the NME/BBC Radio 1 Stage at the Festivals, and 2015 will see them step up to an evening set on the Main Stage. Joining them on Friday at Reading and Saturday in Leeds will be Palma Violets, while Drenge will also take to the Main Stage.
London’s Modestep will be joined by FIDLAR and Babymetal on Saturday at Reading and Sunday at Leeds, while Sunday at Reading and Friday at Leeds will see the return of Festival favourites, The Gaslight Anthem. Against Me! and Feed The Rhino will also step up to the plate.
Acts who will be joining the NME/BBC Radio 1 Stage include Parquet Courts, Echosmith, Twin Atlantic, Spector and Nothing But Thieves. British soul and R&B singer Kwabs, AWOLNATION, Ghostpet and The Skints will also perform.
Performing at the BBC Radio 1 Dance Stage is Jacob Plant, LANY, All We Are, MK, Oliver Dollar (Reading only) and Kevin Sanderson (Leeds only). Pop superstar Charli XCX also joins the tent following the release of her new album Sucker and a sold-out tour, as does Secondcity, Dimension x Kove, Elliphant, Blonde Live, Rustie, Evian Christ, Snakehips, TCTS and 99 Souls.
The Lock Up / The Pit will include Modern Baseball, The Bots, The Smith Street Band, Youth Man, Atreyu, PVRIS, And So I Watch You From Afar, Black Peaks, Ho99o9 and The One Hundred.
