The Mercury Prize 2016 Albums of the Year nominations are in!



The Mercury Prize returns on Thursday 15 September with the prestigious awards show held at the Eventim Apollo in London.

One of the biggest and most sought after awards in the music industry, the Album of the Year honours the best in British and Irish talent with previous winners including the likes of PJ Harvey, The Arctic Monkeys, Elbow and Alt J.

The winner will be decided on by a judging panel consisting of music journalists, musicians and industry insiders including Jessie Ware, Jarvis Cocker, Naughty Boy, Jamie Cullum and Annie Mac as well as Head of Music at 6 Music and Radio 2, Jeff Smith, to name but a few.

Just to be nominated is a massive privilege and the winners tend to see a massive leap in album sales, so good luck to the following who have been shortlisted this year:
