Marilyn Manson is one name that everyone knows. The American rocker is known as much for his controversy and trademark heavy-makeup as he is for his award-winning albums (Holy Wood still stands as one of the best rock albums ever made).
So we thought we would challenge ourselves and you, of course, to see what we didn’t already know about Brian Hugh Warner…
Music wasn’t his original career choice
Manson actually began pursuing a career in music journalism at Broward College in Florida. He even wrote for a magazine called 25th Parallel. Intrigued? Take a look and see for yourself!
Nor is music his only talent
From a nerdy roller-skating waiter in Eastbound and Down (see below) to a recurring role on Sons of Anarchy, Manson has dabbled in acting with some pretty cool cameos.
He’s a fan of Roald Dahl
Well, who isn’t? Rumour has it that Manson’s favourite film is the 1971 epic family movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and he loved it so much that he actually really wanted the starring role in Tim Burton’s remake, which instead went to Johnny Depp.
Did someone say happy hour?
Mansinthe – Marilyn Manson’s own brand of absinthe. Yes, this is a thing! An award-winning thing at that as he won a gold medal at the 2008 San Francisco World Spirits Competition for the alcoholic beverage.
Romantic at heart?
Manson’s been engaged 3 times in total, to Rose McGowan, Dita Von Teese and Evan Rachel Wood. However, it was only his engagement to Dita Von Teese that resulted in a marriage. Their wedding took place in County Tipperary, Ireland.
He’s heading out on the road again!
You can catch Manson touring his critically acclaimed album The Pale Emperor this November. Sign up here to be alerted when tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 19th June.
